Retirement: ‘I’m So Happy’ – Ronaldinho Sends Message To Lionel Messi

Brazilian football legend Ronaldinho has paid tribute to Lionel Messi following the Argentine’s retirement from international football.

Ronaldinho said he is happy with everything Messi has achieved throughout his career and continues to accomplish at the highest level.

Speaking to Sky News Arabia, Ronaldinho, who was recognised as one of Messi’s mentors during their time together at Barcelona, described the Argentine as someone who holds a special place in his heart.

“Messi is a very dear friend, and he has a very special place in my heart,” Ronaldinho said.

“I am so happy for everything he has accomplished and continues to achieve. I hope he continues to bring joy to people as he always has, and that he ends his playing career in the best way possible.”

Ronaldinho and Messi played together at Barcelona for nearly four years, making 80 appearances together and contributing eight goals. Ronaldinho also provided the assist for Messi’s first senior goal for the Spanish club.

Messi announced his retirement from international football last month after leading Argentina to the 2026 FIFA World Cup final. However, he was included in Argentina’s squad for three friendlies against Bolivia, Burkina Faso and Benin Republic, with the 39-year-old expected to feature against Benin on October 6.
