Portugal: Brazil Legend Romario Reveals Ronaldo’s Biggest Mistake Against Jorge Jesus
Brazilian football legend Romario has defended Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo amid his reported dispute with coach Jorge Jesus, claiming the striker’s biggest mistake was not telling the manager to “go to hell” sooner.
Speaking on the Charla Podcast, the 1994 World Cup winner said Ronaldo was right to leave the national team camp after reportedly being left on the bench against Norway despite warming up.
Romario claimed the Al-Nassr forward felt betrayed because Jesus allegedly failed to keep a promise regarding his involvement in the match.
“Ronaldo’s grievance was very clear to me. According to him, Jorge Jesus did not keep his promise,” Romario said.
He added that Ronaldo’s decision to leave was understandable because the Portuguese star felt disrespected by the coach.
“So he felt disrespected and left. If I were in his position, I would do the same,” the Brazilian legend stated.
