Kenneth Okonkwo: Skipping of campaign rallies indicates Tinubu is unwell
Kenneth Okonkwo, actor turned politician, has said President Bola Tinubu’s hint of staying away from some campaign rallies is an indication that he is not fit.
During the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council on Wednesday, the President told the gathering that he would not go everywhere with the trail.
While promising to make out time to speak with Nigerians, President Tinubu told the Senator Abdulaziz Yari led campaign council that he would not be able to go to all the states and local government areas.

He said, “You have warned me and asked me not to allow the rigour of the campaign to distract me from governance. I hear you. I am in full agreement with your decision. Nigeria needs more attention now than ever before. The responsibility of this office does not pause.
“However, I will still make time to speak directly with Nigerians, even as you lead the campaign in the states and local government areas. So you will excuse me from going everywhere with you.”
Responding in a statement, Okonkwo, who is one of the spokespersons of Atiku Abubakar, Presidential Candidate of the opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC), said Tinubu lacks physical capacity to embark on the onerous task of a presidential campaign.
He asked the President to resign on this basis, while urging Nigerians to vote for Atiku in next year’s election.
“Gov Hope Uzodimma hinted that Tinubu will stay back in office and concentrate on governance while they continue with the campaign.
“APC was actually telling the President indirectly to stay in the hospital and take care of his health rather than disgracing them by coming out to be falling uncontrollably and speaking baba blue at functions.
“Tinubu confirmed that he would not be joining in the campaign but will be speaking to Nigerians from his office. I agree that the President should step down from the post of President because he is unwell so that Nigeria will be governed by a fit and proper President.
“Nigeria needs a new President and they should vote out Tinubu because he will be an absentee President. Nigerians should vote in HE Atiku Abubakar for an affordable Nigeria.”
