Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has described Vinicius Junior’s angry reaction to being substituted during their UEFA Champions League clash against Romano as “normal,” although he admitted that he was unhappy with the forward’s response.

Vinicius was substituted as Real Madrid fought back from a 3-1 deficit to secure a dramatic 4-3 victory over Romano. The Brazilian was replaced by Endrick during the encounter.

As he walked towards the bench, Vinicius was heard expressing his frustration, asking, “why does he take me off?”

Speaking after the match, Mourinho acknowledged the incident and explained that players often become frustrated when they are withdrawn from games.

“It’s normal. Obviously it is something I do not like,” the Portuguese manager said.

He added: “But it’s normal for a player to be frustrated when subbed off. He was happy after the game.” Mourinho’s comments suggested that Vinicius’ reaction did not overshadow the team’s eventual victory.
