Ghana To Sanction TV Stations Airing Nigerian Movies Without Permission
The Ghanaian government has announced plans to crack down on television stations that broadcast Nigerian movies without proper authorization.
James Gardiner, Deputy CEO of the Ghana National Film Authority (NFA), revealed that the government is working on new measures to stop the unauthorized airing of Nollywood films.
He made the disclosure during a conversation with Nigerian filmmaker Uchenna Mbunabo, who accused some Ghanaian television stations of downloading Nollywood movies from YouTube and broadcasting them without permission.
Mbunabo questioned whether the practice was legal in Ghana, saying many TV stations freely air Nigerian films without obtaining the rights from their creators.
Responding, Gardiner stated that the practice is illegal and assured filmmakers that the government is taking steps to address the issue.
He explained that the Ghana National Film Authority has already held meetings with the Ministry of Communication, the National Media Commission (NMC), and the National Communications Authority (NCA), which regulate television stations in the country.
According to him, the government is considering new regulations that could revoke the licenses of offending television stations, requiring them to reapply under stricter conditions.
Gardiner expressed optimism that the new measures would be implemented by 2027.
Several Nigerian filmmakers, including Bimbo Ademoye, Omoni Oboli, Mercy Johnson, and Ruth Kadiri, have previously accused some Ghanaian TV stations of illegally broadcasting their movies without authorization or compensation.

“Nobody Will Keep Giving You Money Forever” – Zicsaloma Urges Youths To Learn Skills
Nigerian skitmaker and content creator Zicsaloma has advised young people to acquire practical skills, warning that relying on handouts or begging for money is not a sustainable way to survive.
In a viral video circulating on social media, the comedian said people without valuable skills have little chance of earning a stable income or achieving financial independence.
According to him, many young people graduate from school without being able to apply what they studied or perform practical tasks that can earn them a living.
He noted that some people cannot drive, cook, use a computer, design graphics or take advantage of emerging opportunities like artificial intelligence.
He said, “You know, you can’t have money if you’re not doing anything. Like you’re redundant. You don’t have a skill. You don’t stand a chance. Or your chance is almost zero.
“You can’t drive. You can’t cook. You’re not a chef. You are not computer literate. You don’t know graphic design. You don’t do AI. You do nothing.
“Some of you are graduates, but you don’t even know what you studied. You studied English, you can’t construct proper sentences. You studied Accountancy, you don’t know how to keep books.”
Zicsaloma also revealed that he regularly receives messages from people asking him for financial assistance. He recalled asking one individual what skill they had, only to be told they could do nothing.
He warned that constantly depending on others for money would eventually drive people away.
He said, “I asked the person, ‘What can you do?’ The person said, ‘Nothing.’ Nobody will keep giving you money forever. You will always be a burden to people, and people will keep running away from you.”
The content creator encouraged young people to focus on learning practical skills instead of asking others for money.
According to him, careers such as barbering, hairdressing, driving, catering and other vocational skills can create opportunities for financial success.
He added, “Instead of disturbing people for money, disturb people you can learn skills from. You could be a chef, you could be a driver. Just start from somewhere.
“Your goal should be to learn a skill properly. You can become a millionaire from that skill. If you’re at home doing nothing, you do not stand a chance.”

Afrobeats superstar Davido has revealed the five items he never travels without, saying his wedding ring is the most valuable because it represents his commitment to his wife.
Speaking during an interview with Mystery Fashionist, the award-winning singer said he has always loved fashion and shopping since childhood. Although his busy schedule no longer gives him enough time to shop personally, he now relies on a stylist to help with his fashion choices.
