Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface has thanked Bayer Leverkusen supporters for their strong backing after the club’s 2-1 pre-season victory over Sevilla at the BayArena.

Boniface came on as a second-half substitute as Leverkusen completed a comeback against the Spanish side.

Sevilla took the lead through Miguel Sierra, but Patrik Schick scored twice in the second half to turn the game around and give Leverkusen the win.

After the match, Boniface spoke about the fans’ reaction, with supporters repeatedly chanting his name during the encounter.

The Nigerian forward expressed his appreciation and said the fans have continued to support him through both difficult and positive periods.

“I thank them for their support. They have been there for me in both good and bad times, and I truly appreciate this,” Boniface told the club’s media.

He also explained how important the supporters’ encouragement is to the players, revealing that he had received several supportive messages even before the match.

“You know, this is what we, as players, need. We require their support, and I am genuinely happy. I noticed it even before the game; I received a lot of messages of encouragement, and I feel grateful. I feel blessed, and I thank each and everyone of them.”

After an injury-hit 2025/26 season, Boniface has enjoyed a positive pre-season so far and is gradually returning to full sharpness ahead of the new campaign.
