Edo: NDLEA arrests grandfather, 8 others over alleged Illicit drug trafficking

The Edo State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) said it  has arrested a grandfather identified as Musa Muhammed, 58, and eight others suspected traffickers with illicit drugs in the State.

The State’s NDLEA Commander, Mitchel Ofoyeju, who disclosed this to journalists in Benin, said the suspects comprised five males and four females, who were reportedly  found in possession of assorted illicit substances.

According to him,  the nine suspects were  drug peddlers  apprehended during a raid across various hot spots in the state.

He listed other suspects to include Ebere Anthony, 55, Gift Oliseyenum 31, Boniface George, 27, Muzamilu Mustapha, Faustina Peter, 27, Chucks Odili 36,Anna Agbona, 17 and Julius Enebuli, 42.
Ofoyeju said the 58-year-old grandfather, Musa Muhammed, was caught with 280 grams of Cannabis sativa, 35 grams of Loud and 1.4 grams of Colorado.

He said Ebere Anthony was arrested with 1.5kg of Cannabis sativa, while Gift Oliseyenum, 31, was also caught with 74 grams of Cannabis sativa, 45 grams of Loud, 2.5 grams of Colorado and 4.7 grams of methamphetamine.

“Boniface George, 27, was found with 195 grams of Cannabis sativa, while Muzamilu Mustapha was arrested with 40 grams of Loud and 80 grams of Cannabis sativa.

“Faustina Peter, 27, and Chucks Odili, 36, were found with 35 grams of Loud, 10 grams of Colorado and 0.8 grams of methamphetamine.”

Ofoyeju added that Anna Agbona, 17, was caught with 25 grams of Tramadol, while Julius Enebuli, 42, was arrested with one kilogramme of Cannabis sativa, 65 grams of Loud and 15 grams of Colorado.

He  emphasized that the fight against drug trafficking remains a top priority for the agency, assuring the public of ongoing investigations into drug-related activities and diligent prosecution within the state.

“These arrests do not only highlight the efforts of law enforcement but also signify the increasing need for community involvement in reporting illicit activities, as the agency continues its mission to rid the society of drug-related issues,” he said.
