Transfer: Chelsea Make Martinez Decision In Shock U-Turn
Chelsea are considering whether to make a move for Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez after intermediaries offered the Argentine to the club.
The Blues are currently in discussions with the relevant parties as they decide whether to sign Martinez before the summer transfer window closes next week.
Martinez is reportedly open to joining Chelsea and is looking to leave Aston Villa after the club signed Zion Suzuki as their new first-choice goalkeeper.
However, reports from Standard Sport claim that Chelsea had no original plans to sign the 33-year-old goalkeeper, even after his proposed move to Juventus collapsed.
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca currently has two goalkeepers available in Robert Sanchez and Mike Penders, which has made the club unsure about bringing in another goalkeeper.
Martinez was absent from Aston Villa’s squad during their Premier League defeat to Brighton last weekend.
