Transfer: Atletico Madrid pick two players to sign as Julian Alvarez’s replacement

Atletico Madrid have reportedly identified two players they could sign as replacements for Julian Alvarez if the Argentina international leaves the club before the summer transfer window closes.

Alvarez has reportedly told Atletico Madrid that he wants to leave the Spanish club and join Barcelona.

However, Atletico have ruled out any possibility of allowing the former Manchester City striker to join the Catalan giants.

Diego Simeone’s side are willing to consider offers from Arsenal or other clubs, but Barcelona are not an option for the 26-year-old.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is interested in signing Alvarez to strengthen his attack after the Gunners failed to secure deals for Morgan Rogers and Vinicius Junior.

With Alvarez’s future still uncertain, Atletico are reportedly preparing for his potential departure.

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, the LaLiga club have identified Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus and Nottingham Forest’s Igor Jesus as their preferred options to replace Alvarez.

Gabriel Jesus could be available this summer, with Arsenal reportedly open to parting ways with the Brazilian forward.

Meanwhile, Igor Jesus has also attracted attention following his performances for Nottingham Forest.
