Liverpool remain winless in EPL with Forest draw

Liverpool rallied from a goal down twice to force a 2-2 draw at home to Nottingham Forest in the English Premier League on Saturday.

The early kick-off saw the Reds fall behind twice to goals from Dan Ndoye and Morgan Gibbs-White, before strikes from Alexander Isak and Victor Munoz ensured they took a point in their first league match at Anfield this season.

Forest created the early chances against a hesitant Liverpool and duly took the lead when a long ball was worked towards Ndoye, who finished with aplomb in the 24th minute.

Florian Wirtz had the ball in the back of the net with a precise finish, but his effort was ruled out for offside in the buildup involving Jeremy Frimpong.

An improved Liverpool eventually equalised on the hour mark as a rejuvenated Isak swept home at the back post for his first goal of the season.

A controversial penalty call following a foul by Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker handed Forest another opportunity to retake the lead 10 minutes after Liverpool levelled, and Gibbs-White duly dispatched the spot-kick for Oliver Glasner’s side.

Summer signing Munoz brought Andoni Iraola’s side back on level terms eight minutes from time with a rasping shot that took a slight deflection on its way into the net.

However, Liverpool could not find the winner and had to settle for a draw, their second in consecutive matches.

Iraola remains winless in his two matches in charge of the club, while Oliver Glasner secured his first point as Forest coach.

Liverpool successfully maintained their unbeaten record in their first home match of the season, a run stretching back 23 years, while denying Forest a record third consecutive victory over the Reds at Anfield.
