Afrobeats singer Fireboy DML has revealed that he experienced significant culture shock when he relocated to Lagos in 2016 to pursue his dream of becoming a musician.

Speaking during a recent livestream, Fireboy said he was terrified by some of the things he witnessed after arriving in Lagos, particularly in Surulere.

The singer recalled seeing someone run mad and encountering dead bodies on the streets within his first few weeks in the city.

He also said the presence of cultists and the appearance of some Lagos residents contributed to his fear at the time.

According to Fireboy, despite being frightened by his new environment, he refused to give up on his dream and eventually adapted to the lifestyle in Lagos.

“I was so scared the first time I came to Lagos in 2016, in Surulere. People’s eyes were so red, and they looked scary. In two weeks, I saw someone run mad, dead bodies and cultists. Now, I also look like those scary people,” he said.
