2026 Ballon d’Or: It would be an honour – Ruiz names player that deserves award

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Fabian Ruiz has admitted that winning the 2026 Ballon d’Or would be a dream and a great honour for him.

The Spain international has enjoyed an impressive season with both PSG and the national team, helping his sides achieve major success.

Ruiz was part of the PSG squad that won the Ligue 1 title and the UEFA Champions League before going on to lift the World Cup with Spain in North America.

His performances have placed him among the players being considered for the prestigious individual award, and the midfielder believes he has a genuine chance of winning it.

When asked by Téléfoot about the possibility of claiming the Ballon d’Or, Ruiz said: “The Ballon d’Or? It’s a dream for any footballer.

“Why not this year? I dream of being as close as possible to lifting that trophy.

“I was lucky to be able to win a lot of collective trophies, and a few individual ones. It would be an honour.”

Ruiz’s achievements this season have strengthened his case, with the midfielder playing an important role in PSG’s domestic and European success.

However, he faces strong competition from several other top players who have also enjoyed outstanding campaigns.

The Ballon d’Or winner will ultimately be decided based on individual performances and achievements during the voting period.
