Champions League: What Lamine Yamal Said About Osimhen’s Disallowed Goal
Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal has admitted that Victor Osimhen’s disallowed goal could have made their UEFA Champions League encounter with Galatasaray much more difficult.
Osimhen thought he had doubled Galatasaray’s lead in the first half with a powerful header. However, the goal was ruled out following a review by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).
The decision proved significant as Barcelona recovered from the setback and went on to score four goals against the Turkish champions, securing all three points.
Yamal acknowledged that allowing Galatasaray to take a two-goal lead would have made Barcelona’s task considerably harder, especially playing away from home in Istanbul.
“If Galatasaray’s second goal hadn’t been disallowed, our job in Istanbul would have been very tough,” Yamal said, according to Le Marca Sports.
Osimhen’s disallowed effort could therefore have changed the course of the match, as Galatasaray missed the opportunity to strengthen their advantage before Barcelona’s comeback.
