Super Falcons forward Gift Monday has expressed her gratitude to Washington Spirit following her permanent transfer to fellow National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) club Boston Legacy.

Boston Legacy completed the signing of the 24-year-old Nigerian international earlier this month, reportedly paying €500,000 to secure her services.

Following her departure, Monday took to Instagram to reflect on her time at Washington Spirit, sharing an emotional message thanking the club for the memories and support she received during her stay.

“Saying goodbye is never easy, especially when the memories mean so much. I’m leaving with a grateful heart, beautiful memories, and a little sadness that words cannot explain,” she wrote.

Monday joined Washington Spirit in 2025 after leaving Spanish club UD Tenerife and quickly became a valuable member of the team.

During her time with the American club, the Nigerian striker made 48 regular-season appearances, recording 12 goals and three assists.
