Ballon d’Or 2026: What’ll Happen If Two Players Get The Same Number Of Votes
Organisers of the Ballon d’Or have explained how the winner will be determined if two players receive the same number of votes in this year’s award.
France Football provided the clarification in a post on its official X account on Tuesday, outlining the procedure for resolving a tie between nominees.
According to the organisers, the first deciding factor will be the number of first-place votes received by each player. The nominee with more first-place votes will take the award.
If the players remain tied after the first comparison, the organisers will consider the number of second-place votes each candidate received.
Should the tie persist, third-place votes will be examined, followed by votes for subsequent positions until a winner is determined.
The winner of the 2026 Ballon d’Or is scheduled to be announced next Monday in London, with several high-profile footballers in contention for the prestigious individual award.
