Veteran Nollywood actor Jide Kosoko has appealed to Nigerians and fans of ailing actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, to continue praying for him as he receives treatment in hospital.

Kosoko also explained why Ogogo’s family has been unable to accept the numerous offers of medical, spiritual and traditional assistance from people seeking to help the actor.

In a statement shared on his Instagram page, Kosoko thanked Ogogo’s colleagues, fans and well-wishers for their concern and support since news of his illness emerged.

According to him, the family has received hundreds of offers from people who believe they can contribute to Ogogo’s recovery.

“We have received offers from more than 300, and even over 500 people, each sincerely believing that they have something that could help him,” Kosoko said.

He explained that the major challenge is Ogogo’s current condition and the difficulty involved in moving him from the hospital where he is already receiving treatment.

“The challenge is simply: Where do we take him to? And how do we move him from the hospital while he is receiving care?” he asked.

Kosoko specifically appealed to those who have offered spiritual, traditional or specialised treatments to understand the family’s situation.

He urged them not to feel offended if the family is unable to take Ogogo to their various locations for treatment or prayers.

“Please, do not feel offended or disappointed if we are unable to bring Ogogo to you for spiritual assistance or treatment,” he stated.

The veteran actor said transferring Ogogo between different locations at this stage would be extremely difficult, particularly with the large number of people offering to assist.

“Please understand that our inability to bring him to anyone does not mean that we do not appreciate you, nor does it mean that we doubt your intentions or your desire to help,” he added.

Kosoko said the overwhelming support from people in Nigeria and around the world has encouraged Ogogo’s family and colleagues during the difficult period.

“On the contrary, we are deeply touched by the overwhelming love and concern that people across the world have shown towards him,” he said.

Rather than visiting the hospital with different treatment offers, Kosoko urged well-wishers to support the family and continue praying for Ogogo from wherever they are.

“Therefore, we encourage you to continue doing whatever you can from your respective locations and comfort zones. Keep praying. Keep supporting us. Keep believing with us,” he appealed.
