Suspected Cult Member Dies While Fleeing Arrest In Ogun

A suspected cult member has died while allegedly trying to escape arrest, while another suspect has been arrested following an alleged ambush and threat to life in Ikenne Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The incident reportedly happened around 1:20 p.m. on Sunday in the Kajola area of Ikenne, according to security analyst Zagazola Makama.

The operation began after a resident, identified as Anuolatoberu, alerted the police that suspected cult members were threatening his life. Acting on the complaint and intelligence gathered, police officers confirmed that the victim had allegedly been ambushed by members of the group.

Police operatives were immediately deployed to Kajola, where they arrested one suspect, Oluwatimileyin Daniel. However, other members of the alleged cult group fled the scene as officers arrived.

During the chase, one of the fleeing suspects, identified as Damola, reportedly collapsed while attempting to escape. He was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment but was later confirmed dead.

The incident triggered tension and confusion within the community, prompting security personnel to strengthen their presence in the area to maintain order.

Police have since brought the situation under control, while investigations into the incident are ongoing.
