EPL: ‘They’ll Destroy Them’ – Patrice Evra Predicts Man United vs Ipswich Town

Former Manchester United defender Patrice Evra has predicted the outcome of his former club’s upcoming Premier League match against Ipswich Town.

Evra is confident that Manchester United will bounce back from their disappointing opening-day defeat to Hull City.

The Frenchman believes United will “destroy” Ipswich when the two teams meet at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

Manchester United supporters had entered the new season with plenty of optimism following the club’s impressive revival under manager Michael Carrick towards the end of last season.

Carrick guided United back into the Champions League for the first time since the 2023/24 season.

However, that optimism quickly turned into disappointment when Semi Ajayi and Nobel Mendy scored for Hull City to secure a 2-0 victory over United in their return to the Premier League.

Despite dominating possession with 71 per cent, United struggled to create clear chances. They managed just five shots on target, with Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Bruno Fernandes all denied by Hull goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis.

United will now have an opportunity to respond against another newly promoted team, Ipswich Town, on Sunday.

Ipswich have started strongly, winning their first two matches against Sunderland and Leicester in the Premier League and Carabao Cup respectively.

Speaking during a livestream on Kick, Evra gave his prediction for the match:

“I believe Manchester United will destroy Ipswich.

“However, I anticipate they will struggle in the first half before ultimately defeating Ipswich 3-1.

“I do not foresee United losing this second match, but it is indeed a challenging and precarious game, so I do not wish to sound arrogant.

“When I mention a 3-1 victory, it is because if we were to draw, just imagine the uproar.”

Evra also pointed out that the huge level of “noise” surrounding Manchester United’s wins and defeats shows the enormous stature of the club as a “big club”.
