EPL: Rooney Names Two Man Utd Stars Carrick Should Drop Against Ipswich Town

Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has named two players he believes manager Michael Carrick should drop against Ipswich Town.

Carrick’s team will face Ipswich Town in their next Premier League match this weekend at Old Trafford.

Manchester United will be looking to bounce back after losing to Hull City in their opening Premier League game last weekend.

Speaking on The Overlap, Rooney called on Carrick to leave Luke Shaw and Andrey Santos out of the starting XI against Ipswich Town, who earned promotion to the Premier League after the conclusion of last season.

“I think players need to take responsibility on the pitch. I would change Luke Shaw, and I would play Dorgu at left-back, be a bit more aggressive [against Ipswich Town],” Rooney said.

“I don’t think we can rely on him [Shaw] to play all the games, so when you are playing against a newly promoted team at home, I would play Dorgu at left-back,” he added.

Rooney was also asked about possible changes to Manchester United’s midfield.

The former England captain suggested that Kobbie Mainoo should replace Santos in midfield.

“Mainoo, probably, yeah. I would bring Mainoo in for Santos,” Rooney added.
