Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen was forced off with a suspected muscle injury during his team’s Turkish Super Lig clash against Istanbul Basaksehir on Friday night.

The Nigerian striker gave Galatasaray the perfect start when he opened the scoring in the 16th minute with a brilliant finish.

However, Osimhen’s night was cut short just 15 minutes later after he appeared to suffer an injury. The 27-year-old was unable to continue and was substituted.

Super Eagles forward was replaced by Barış Alper Yılmaz as Galatasaray continued the match without their star striker.

The goal was Osimhen’s sixth of the season, while he has also provided three assists for the Turkish champions so far this campaign.

The injury could be a concern for Nigeria, with the Super Eagles preparing for their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, qualifiers later this month.

Nigeria are scheduled to face Madagascar on September 23 before travelling to Guinea-Bissau four days later for their second qualifying fixture.
