EPL: Alan Shearer names only two teams to challenge Arsenal for title
Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has identified Manchester City and Chelsea as the only teams he believes can challenge Arsenal for the Premier League title this season.
Shearer made the comments on The Rest Is Football podcast after Arsenal defeated Chelsea 2-1 in the Premier League over the weekend.
The former England international believes Manchester City are Arsenal’s biggest threat, while Chelsea also have the quality to remain in the title race.
Asked which teams he sees as Arsenal’s biggest rivals for the title, Shearer said, “Chelsea and Man City. I’d probably go with Man City.”
Shearer also dismissed Manchester United’s chances of competing for the Premier League title, pointing to their defensive problems.
“Manchester United are not good enough defensively to be anywhere near challenging the teams we have already mentioned.”
