Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has criticised Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes for questioning manager Michael Carrick’s tactics following their Champions League defeat to Como.

Manchester United suffered a heavy 4-1 loss to the Serie A side on Wednesday, after which Fernandes expressed concerns about Carrick’s tactical decisions during his post-match interview.

Speaking on CBS Sports, Carragher described Fernandes’ comments as unacceptable and questioned his decision to criticise the manager publicly.

“For Bruno Fernandes to do that is a disgrace really,” Carragher said.

The former Liverpool defender argued that Fernandes benefited significantly from Carrick’s appointment, claiming the midfielder’s performances improved after being restored to his preferred position.

“He got Player of the Season, that was off the back of Michael Carrick becoming manager, he would not have got that without Michael Carrick because he got put back in his rightful position,” Carragher added.
