LaLiga: I score more goals than Raphinha, Yamal – Mbappe dismisses comparison

Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe has responded to claims that Barcelona stars Lamine Yamal and Raphinha contribute more defensively than he does.

The Frenchman insisted that he remains a better player in terms of goalscoring, pointing to his impressive scoring record since joining Real Madrid.

Mbappe has scored 92 goals in all competitions for Los Blancos since arriving at the Santiago Bernabeu on a free transfer in 2024. He has also scored four goals in four matches this season.

During the same period, Yamal has scored 46 goals for Barcelona, while Raphinha has netted 61. Both players have also started the current LaLiga campaign strongly, with four and six goals respectively.

When asked about the pair’s better defensive contributions compared to himself and Vinicius Junior, Mbappe said, “Only me and Vini? I could play dumb and tell you that I score more than the two you mentioned. … Everyone is different, but obviously, I still have to improve.”

Mbappe’s comments come after Real Madrid suffered a 1-0 defeat to Real Betis, with the forward missing a crucial late penalty in the match.

Yamal and Raphinha, meanwhile, were both on target in Barcelona’s 5-0 victory over Valencia, helping the Catalan side move three points clear of Real Madrid at the top of LaLiga after four matches.
