Champions League: Carragher Doubts Man United’s Title Chances

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has questioned Manchester United’s chances of winning the Champions League this season, despite their impressive 4-0 victory over Sabah.

United, playing in the competition for the first time since 2023, dominated the Azerbaijani side, with goals from Matheus Cunha, Bruno Fernandes, Benjamin Sesko and Lisandro Martinez.

However, Carragher believes United still lack the quality needed to compete with Europe’s top clubs.

He told CBS Sports: “Probably not just yet. Now, I’m not trying to be patronising in any way. Manchester United, as I’ve just stated, are one of the largest clubs in the world.

“However, to enter the competition now with their current squad and expect them to achieve significant success against other clubs of their stature, they just haven’t got the quality right now, I think, to go deep into the competition.”

United will now face a major test when they take on local rivals Manchester City in the Premier League this weekend.
