EPL: Joe Cole makes fresh title prediction involving City, Arsenal

Former Chelsea attacking midfielder Joe Cole has shared his thoughts on the Premier League title race this season, with Arsenal and Manchester City emerging as the teams at the centre of his prediction.

Cole believes Manchester City could overtake Arsenal only if the club’s legal team secures a favourable outcome in its ongoing dispute with the Premier League.

The situation stems from an independent commission’s findings that Manchester City breached more than 100 financial regulations between 2009 and 2018.

The allegations included claims that the club used “sham contracts” to artificially inflate its revenues and conceal costs. Manchester City has challenged the commission’s ruling.

Earlier this month, the club’s board launched an appeal, arguing that the decision contained “clear material errors of law, principle and fact” and was “unsafe.”

Speaking on The Dressing Room podcast, Cole suggested that the outcome of the legal proceedings could have a significant influence on the title race, placing considerable importance on the club’s lawyers.

“I think Arsenal,” Cole said when asked for his prediction. “If Man City’s lawyers go to work, they win the league. The lawyers are the most important people in this right now. If not, it is Arsenal and everyone else is just catching up.”
