FIFA Clears Air On Picking Casablanca To Host 2030 World Cup Final

FIFA has clarified that it has not yet selected a venue for the 2030 World Cup final.

The 2030 tournament will be jointly hosted by Morocco, Spain and Portugal, with several stadiums being considered for the final.

Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu and a planned 115,000-capacity stadium in Benslimane, near Casablanca, are currently viewed as the leading contenders.

The issue came up after Morocco Football Federation president Fouzi Lekjaa reportedly claimed that Benslimane had already secured the right to host the final.

“The city of Benslimane will host the World Cup final. Hate it or love it, and if anyone wants to talk on top of that, let them talk,” Lekjaa said.

However, FIFA has rejected the suggestion that a final venue has already been decided, stressing that the process is still ongoing.

A FIFA spokesperson said on Friday: “As communicated on 5 August 2026, a decision will be made by FIFA in due course.” This means Casablanca or Madrid could still be selected to host the 2030 World Cup final.
