Actress Omotunde Ogundimu Reveals Cervical Cancer Battle, Appeals For Financial Support
Veteran Nollywood actress Omotunde Ogundimu has publicly disclosed that she is battling cervical cancer and has appealed to Nigerians for financial assistance to continue her treatment.
The actress made the emotional revelation during an interview with her colleague, Biola Adebayo, on the Talk to Bpodcast.
According to Ogundimu, she was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2025 and has been living with severe pain since then. She said the illness has placed a heavy financial burden on her family, with her children spending their savings to support her treatment.
A widow since 2012 and a single mother of three, the actress said she had initially chosen to keep her health condition private but decided to seek public help after exhausting all available resources.
She also alleged that she has struggled to get acting jobs in recent years despite spending more than three decades in Nollywood. According to her, she reached out to several colleagues for movie roles, but her efforts did not yield results.
Appealing to anyone she may have offended in the industry, Ogundimu asked for forgiveness and another opportunity to work.
She said:
“I’m going through severe pain. I was diagnosed with cervical cancer. I don’t know where I got it from. I don’t look for people’s trouble; I’m an easy-going person.
“My children have spent all they have on my treatment. They can no longer take care of themselves because they are taking care of me. I refused to ask the public for help before, but I have no other option now.
“Nigerians, please have mercy on me. I just want to be healed. The pain is severe. I’m a widow and a single mother of three.
“I don’t usually get acting jobs. I have called my colleagues and begged for movie roles, but none came through. If I have offended anyone in the industry, I sincerely ask for forgiveness. I have been in this profession for 35 years, and I only want another chance to survive and continue my career.”
