AFCON 2027Q: Usor Reveals How Simon Inspired Match-Winning Goal Against Madagascar

Moses Usor has revealed that Moses Simon inspired his spectacular match-winning goal in Nigeria’s 2-1 victory over Madagascar in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

Usor came off the bench and scored the winning goal for the Super Eagles in the closely contested encounter.

The LASK winger received the ball inside Nigeria’s half before driving forward, dribbling past two defenders and firing a powerful effort into the net.

The 24-year-old said Simon gave him the confidence to take risks and express himself after they warmed up together before entering the game.

Usor told the Super Eagles media: “I was warming up with Moses Simon when they called me, and we went in together. He advised me to just play my game, and be myself.”

He added: “He said, if you have the ball and you want to go one-on-one, you can take the risk. He gave me the confidence to play the game.”

Usor said he entered the match determined to take risks and show what he could do, describing the goal as a dream moment. He added: “I was like is this me? You know after my goal, I went down on my knees to pray. I really thank God for it.”
