Akin Olaiya’s Wife Claims He Married Her Best Friend, Reveals Cause of Marriage Breakdown

Nafisat, the estranged wife of Nollywood actor Akin Olaiya, has revealed the reason she left their marriage, alleging that the actor married her best friend after subjecting her to pain and mistreatment.

The revelation comes days after Akin Olaiya confirmed the end of their marriage in a public statement. The actor, who married Nafisat in July 2025 following the collapse of his first marriage, claimed that she left their matrimonial home without any crisis and that efforts to reconcile had failed.

Responding in a video shared on social media, Nafisat disputed his account, insisting that there were serious issues in the marriage.

According to her, the relationship ended after she discovered that Olaiya had become involved with her best friend, who also served as her chief bridesmaid during their wedding.

She said:

“Can you imagine that after the mistreating, pain and everything, the said husband ends up marrying your own best friend.

“So, what does that mean? It’s because I’m not just the type that will come to say my own side of the story. I’m not used to it because in my own culture they don’t train us like that.”

Nafisat had earlier accused the actor of domestic violence and mistreatment, stating that those issues contributed to her decision to leave the marriage.

As of the time of this report, Akin Olaiya has not publicly responded to Nafisat’s latest allegations.
