Ballon d’Or 2026: ‘He’s The Best Player’ – Martin Picks Winner

Barcelona defender Gerard Martin has backed his teammate Lamine Yamal to win the 2026 Ballon d’Or.

Martin believes the 19-year-old Spain international is currently the best player in the world and deserves the prestigious individual award.

“Many things are taken into consideration, but the Ballon d’Or should go to the best player, and the best is Lamine Yamal,” Martin said in an interview with TV3 via MARCA.

The Barcelona defender also highlighted another teammate, Pau Cubarsi, saying the young defender deserves to be highly placed among the Ballon d’Or contenders.

“But [Pau] Cubarsi should also be there, if not on the podium then very high up, because he has had a great season,” Martin added.

Yamal was recently named among the 30 players shortlisted for this year’s Ballon d’Or award, which will be decided next month.
