Ballon d’Or 2026: Williams Names Player Who Deserves To Win Award

Athletic Bilbao forward Nico Williams has named Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal as the player he believes deserves to win the 2026 Ballon d’Or.

Williams said Yamal’s performances have made him one of the players football fans specifically tune in to watch.

The two players are close friends and also teammates with the Spain national team, having shared the pitch for their country.

Speaking to El Desmarque about who should win the prestigious individual award, Williams gave his backing to the Barcelona youngster.

“I think Lamine Yamal deserves it,” Williams said.

“For me, he should be the best player – the one you switch on the telly for because you want to see him.”
