Ballon d’Or: ‘One Of The Best’ – Tabitha Chawinga Names Player To Win Award
Malawi forward Tabitha Chawinga has backed her younger sister, Temwa Chawinga, to win the Women’s Ballon d’Or.
Temwa, who plays for Kansas City, recently won the Golden Boot at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco after scoring five goals in the tournament.
She finished ahead of Barbra Banda, Marie Ngah Manga and Inès Konan in the race for the top scorer award.

Despite Temwa’s impressive performance, the Chawinga sisters were unable to lead Malawi to the tournament title after the team suffered a 3-0 defeat in the final.
Tabitha, however, believes her younger sister has what it takes to win major individual honours.
Speaking to ESPN, she described Temwa as a superstar and one of the best players in the world.
“I believe in my sister, she’s my superstar. She’s one of the best players in the world.
“It won’t only be the Golden Boot. I believe she will win the best player in Africa as well, and maybe, the Ballon d’Or as well.
“She’s a superstar, as you can see. The talent she has, the hard work, and how she did. Absolutely, I give her my respect.
“When I was young, I didn’t have the chance [to win the Ballon d’Or], but I wish my sister to win it. I believe in my sister,” Tabitha said.
