CAN, PFN Leaders in Bayelsa West Endorse Dickson, NDC Candidates

Christian leaders in Bayelsa West Senatorial District have endorsed Senator Henry Seriake Dickson and other candidates of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the forthcoming elections, citing concerns over economic hardship and insecurity.

The endorsements were reportedly made by representatives of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) during separate engagements in Sagbama and Ekeremor Local Government Areas.

A statement by Gabriel Ukuta, Coordinator of Ofurumapepe Media, said the Christian stakeholders expressed concern over hunger, rising living costs, unemployment, insecurity and other economic challenges facing Nigerians.

According to the statement, the groups said their political position was informed by the need to support candidates they believe would prioritise the welfare, security and dignity of citizens.

The Christian leaders also expressed opposition to a Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket, arguing that Nigeria’s political leadership should reflect religious inclusivity and the country’s diversity.

They pledged to mobilise their members to participate actively in the electoral process and support candidates they consider committed to inclusive and accountable governance.

The stakeholders expressed confidence in Dickson’s leadership record and backed his Senate bid alongside other NDC candidates seeking elective positions in Bayelsa West.

They also urged eligible voters in Sagbama and Ekeremor to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards and participate peacefully in the elections.

The groups called on political leaders to address pressing national challenges, particularly hunger, unemployment, insecurity and the rising cost of living.
