Nigerian activist, entertainer, and social commentator, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has admitted that he was involved in criminal activities during his younger years while living in the United States.

He made the revelation during an interview on Prime Time on Arise Television on Friday.

Speaking during the interview, Charly Boy said he made many poor decisions as a young man and took part in activities he now deeply regrets.

According to him, he was involved in theft and several reckless actions that could have completely changed the course of his life.

“I’ve made mistakes in my life. I’ve been a thief. I’ve done very risky things. I’ve done very stupid things, very foolish things. In fact, I have no business being here with you tonight, but I guess there’s a purpose for my life,” he said.

The veteran entertainer also disclosed that while living in the United States at about the age of 25, he was involved in white-collar crimes.

“I was doing white-collar crime when I was in America. I was about 25 years old. I was doing a lot of stupid stuff. That’s why I say I’ve been there,” he added.

Charly Boy explained that he chose not to hide that chapter of his life. Instead, he included those experiences in his memoir to give readers an honest account of his journey from a life of rebellion and bad decisions to one of personal growth, transformation, and self-discovery.
