Court jails mason 12 months for stealing building materials
An Area Court in Jos on Tuesday sentenced Moses John, mason, to 12 months in prison for
stealing building materials valued at N406,000.
The Judge, Shawomi Bokkos, sentenced John after he pleaded guilty to the offence.
Bokkos, however, gave the convict an option of N100,000 fine.
Earlier, the police prosecutor, Insp. Labaran Ahmed, told the court that the case was reported at the A Division Police
Station on Aug. 14 by Mr Manchang Peter.
He said the complainant said John broke into his store and stole various building materials items valued at N406,000.
The prosecutor further told the court that during police investigation, John had confessed to have committed the offence.
The offence, he said, contravened the Plateau State Penal Code law of Northern Nigeria.
