East Point Gears Up for FIFA 2026, Courts Millions of Fans and Investors
As preparations intensify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the President of the East Point Convention and Visitors Bureau, Chantel Ross Francois, has unveiled plans to position East Point, Georgia, as a premier destination for football fans, tourists, investors, and international visitors expected to converge on Atlanta for the global sporting spectacle.
Francois said East Point’s strategic location, just minutes from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and close to key World Cup venues in Atlanta, gives the city a unique advantage in hosting the influx of visitors anticipated during the tournament.
In a statement, she described East Point as a vibrant and accessible community offering a blend of cultural diversity, modern amenities, and Southern hospitality.
According to her, the city’s extensive transportation network, growing hospitality sector, and range of accommodation options make it an attractive base for visitors seeking convenience and affordability during the tournament.
“With Atlanta set to host FIFA World Cup matches, East Point is perfectly positioned to welcome guests from around the world,” Francois said. “Whether visitors are attending matches, exploring business opportunities, or simply experiencing the excitement of the tournament, East Point provides a welcoming environment where meaningful connections and lasting memories can be created.”
She noted that beyond football, the city offers a rich cultural experience through its local cuisine, arts, music, entertainment scene, and historical attractions that reflect the heritage and spirit of the Atlanta metropolitan area.
Francois emphasized that East Point’s multicultural character aligns with the values of inclusiveness and global unity often associated with the FIFA World Cup.
She identified key attractions of the city as its proximity to major sporting venues and the airport, affordable accommodation, vibrant cultural offerings, and a safe, visitor-friendly environment.
The East Point Convention and Visitors Bureau has therefore extended an invitation to football enthusiasts, families, business leaders, investors, and tourists worldwide to consider the city as their preferred destination during the month-long tournament.
The bureau also believes the World Cup presents significant economic opportunities for communities surrounding host cities, particularly in the tourism, hospitality, entertainment, and service sectors.
Atlanta is one of the host cities selected for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The tournament will be the first in history to feature 48 national teams, a development expected to drive record levels of international travel and commercial activity.
Francois said East Point is ready to capitalize on the opportunities created by the global event while showcasing its unique identity to millions of visitors.
“As the world comes together through sport, East Point invites visitors to be part of history. Come for the games, stay for the experience, and discover why East Point is more than a destination—it is your home for FIFA World Cup 2026,” she said.
With billions of viewers expected to follow the tournament worldwide, East Point is positioning itself not only as a destination for football fans but also as a hub for cultural exchange, tourism growth, business networking, and global engagement during one of the world’s biggest sporting events.
