EPL: ‘He’s Strong, Fast, Has Football Intelligence’ – Micah Richards Names Favourite Arsenal Player
Former Manchester City defender Micah Richards has named Arsenal youngster Myles Lewis-Skelly as his favourite player in Mikel Arteta’s squad.
Richards praised the 20-year-old after his performance for England in their 3-0 victory over Czechia in the UEFA Nations League. England secured the win through a Vladimir Coufal own goal and two goals from Harry Kane.
Speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast, Richards highlighted Lewis-Skelly’s qualities and his potential. He said: “Myles Lewis-Skelly is one of my favourite players; technically, he’s very good, he’s strong and fast, he has football intelligence, and he’s still so young as well.”
Richards also recalled the youngster’s performance against Real Madrid a few seasons ago. “I remember his performance against Real Madrid a couple of seasons ago, and I hadn’t seen anything quite like it from someone that young,” he said.
The former England international believes Lewis-Skelly is too talented to remain a substitute at Arsenal, despite competition for places from Riccardo Calafiori and others.
He added: “Lewis-Skelly has abilities that transcend a substitute status. He is among the most exceptional young talents I have encountered at his developmental stage, and this assessment is not hyperbolic.”
