EPL: ‘I Love Him, He Has Everything’ – Fulham Boss, Arbeloa Hails Super Eagles Star

Fulham manager Alvaro Arbeloa has praised Nigerian defender Calvin Bassey, explaining why the Super Eagles star fits perfectly into his style of play.

Arbeloa also suggested that Bassey has the qualities needed to become one of Fulham’s leaders.

The Fulham boss made the comments after Bassey delivered an impressive performance in the club’s 1-0 victory over Stuttgart at Craven Cottage on Saturday.

The Nigerian international put in a strong defensive display and helped Fulham keep a clean sheet in their final pre-season match before the new Premier League campaign.

Arbeloa praised Bassey’s defensive qualities, particularly his ability to cope with space behind a high defensive line.

“Calvin is a proper and top player for my style of game because we need to defend so high and leave a lot of space behind. He has everything,” Arbeloa told Fulham media.

The former Real Madrid defender also praised Bassey’s attitude and work ethic, suggesting that the Nigerian could eventually become a leader within the squad.

“He is a humorous individual, but when it’s time to work, he is always the first to step up. I have great admiration for Calvin, and he has the potential to be our leader,” he added.

Bassey has established himself as an important player for Fulham since joining the club in the summer of 2023 following his time in the Eredivisie.
