EPL: Martin Keown Tells Arsenal Position To Strengthen This Summer
Arsenal legend Martin Keown has advised his former club to strengthen the right-back position during this summer’s transfer window.
Keown gave the advice while speaking to Hayters TV ahead of Arsenal’s FA Cup Community Shield clash with Manchester City on Sunday.
The former defender believes Arsenal may not need to sign another striker because Kai Havertz has impressed during pre-season and appears ready for the new campaign.
“I wondered whether they [Arsenal] might look again at a striker. But they obviously feel now Havertz has come through the pre-season,” Keown said.
“I think that is really critical, and he’s got that base for the season, so no.”
However, Keown believes the right-back position could become a problem if Jurrien Timber is not fully fit. He also pointed out that Ben White has struggled with injuries, although Cristhian Mosquera can also play in that position.
“Right-back could be a problem if Jurrien Timber’s not going to be ready because obviously Ben White’s had a few injuries, but Mosquera again can go into that position.
“So, that might be something they are looking at, to bring a right-back in.”
