Chelsea forward Pedro Neto has credited Portugal head coach Jorge Jesus for helping him improve his composure and finishing in front of goal after scoring twice in the Blues’ 2-0 Premier League victory over Everton.

The Portuguese international explained that Jesus had encouraged him to prioritise accuracy when shooting near the penalty area rather than depending entirely on power.

Speaking to TNT Sports after the match, Neto revealed how the national team coach’s advice had influenced his recent performances.

“This comes a little bit from the new coach of the national team, who says when you are near the area, you need to pass to the goal, so really happy with that,” Neto said.

The Chelsea forward also stressed the importance of keeping a clean sheet, praising the team’s overall performance following their difficult encounter at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

“We required a clean sheet, to be frank. I believe we delivered an excellent performance. Emi merited this achievement, as did Mike. It carries considerable importance,” he stated.

Neto acknowledged that away matches in the Premier League are often challenging, adding that Chelsea approached the contest with determination and a strong desire to secure victory.
