EPL table: Man City go three points clear at top with 1-0 win over Coventry

Manchester City moved three points clear at the top of the Premier League table after securing a narrow 1-0 victory over newly promoted Coventry City on Saturday afternoon.

The result means City have maintained their perfect start to the 2026/27 Premier League campaign, winning all three of their opening fixtures.

Enzo Maresca’s side dominated possession and created several opportunities throughout the game but struggled to turn their control into goals.

The only goal of the match came in the first half when Antoine Semenyo broke down the right flank before delivering a cross into the box.

Erling Haaland rose highest to meet Semenyo’s delivery and headed the ball into the net to give Manchester City the lead.

Coventry attempted to respond but City remained in control for much of the encounter and successfully protected their advantage until the final whistle.

The victory takes Manchester City three points clear at the summit, with Arsenal in second and Chelsea in fourth. Both clubs will meet at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

City will now turn their attention to their next Premier League fixture, a highly anticipated Manchester derby against Manchester United at Old Trafford next Sunday.
