EPL: ‘They’ve announced themselves’ – Peter Crouch predicts winner of Arsenal vs Chelsea clash
Former England striker Peter Crouch has predicted Chelsea to beat Arsenal when both teams meet in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
Arsenal have made an impressive start to their title defence, winning their opening two matches of the season. The Gunners defeated newly promoted Coventry 3-0 before securing a narrow 1-0 victory away at Aston Villa.
Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard were on target in the win over Coventry, while Saka scored the only goal against Aston Villa to give Mikel Arteta’s side another three points.
Chelsea have also collected six points from their opening two league matches under new manager Xabi Alonso. Their attacking trio of Cole Palmer, Joao Pedro and Morgan Rogers have impressed in the early stages of the campaign.
However, the Blues have shown some weaknesses defensively, conceding five goals in their opening two matches against Fulham and Brighton.
Despite this, Crouch believes Chelsea have enough attacking quality to overcome Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
Speaking on the That Peter Crouch podcast, he said: “Great game! Two teams looking good as well. I think Chelsea will concede.
“I’m going to put the cat amongst the pigeons and I’m going to go for a 3-2 Chelsea win.
“I think they’ve announced themselves as title contenders.”
