EPL: Why Coventry City Lost 3-0 To Arsenal – Lampard
Coventry City manager Frank Lampard has admitted that Arsenal gave his team a difficult test in Friday’s Premier League opener at the Emirates Stadium.
The newly promoted side suffered a 3-0 defeat against the defending champions, with Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka and Martin Ødegaard getting on the scoresheet.
The victory means Mikel Arteta’s side began their title defence with three points.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Lampard acknowledged the quality of Arsenal and admitted that his players faced a major challenge.
He said:
“Clearly, a big challenge.
“Fantastic team, a good lesson for our boys to see the levels. They played like champions.
“It was a difficult game for us. The experience of it is probably good for us in terms of the stadium, the atmosphere at the start of the game and the quality that they have.
“When you concede goals, it’s not great from us, and that’s the reality.”
