Ex-Man City Defender, Jerome Boateng Gets Coaching Job

Former Manchester City and Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng has landed a new coaching role following his retirement from professional football.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Boateng has agreed to join Trabzonspor as the club’s new assistant coach.

The appointment comes after the former Germany international announced his retirement from professional football on September 19, 2025, at the age of 37.

Boateng enjoyed the most successful period of his playing career at Bayern Munich, where he established himself as one of Europe’s top defenders.

During his time with the German giants, Boateng won nine Bundesliga titles, two Champions League trophies and five DFB-Pokal cups.

The former defender also won the 2014 FIFA World Cup with Germany in Brazil, adding an international title to his impressive club career.

Boateng also represented Hertha BSC, Hamburger SV, Lyon, Salernitana, LASK and Manchester City during his playing career. He will now begin a new chapter in football as part of Trabzonspor’s coaching staff.
