Flashback: ‘I Spent Six Years Battling This Illness’ – Ogogo
A resurfaced video of late Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has revealed details of his years-long battle with a serious illness.
In the video, Ogogo said he had battled the illness for almost six years and experienced severe symptoms, including chest pain, ulcers and vomiting blood.
The veteran actor also revealed that he did not smoke cigarettes or take alcohol regularly.

According to him, the health challenge began when he experienced a sharp chest pain while travelling to a movie location. He said the pain spread to his back and left him feeling uncomfortable within minutes.
Ogogo said the illness became so severe that he vomited blood for seven months and often prayed while sitting.
He said, “I don’t smoke cigarettes or weed. Those who know me well know that if I take a bottle of beer, I will finish it down with two bottles of Schweppes. I’ll keep that bottle till daybreak.
“Once, I was going to a location and I felt a sharp chest pain radiating to my back. Within five minutes, I didn’t feel comfortable at all.
“I spent almost six years battling this illness. I had ulcers and would vomit blood for seven months. I prayed while sitting.”
Ogogo died at the age of 66 after reportedly battling stage-four cancer. His death has continued to generate tributes from colleagues, fans and other members of the Nigerian entertainment industry.
The actor was buried on Monday in his hometown in accordance with Islamic rites.
Family members, friends, colleagues and sympathisers gathered to pay their final respects to the veteran actor.
His longtime friend and colleague, Yinka Quadri, was among those who attended the burial and was visibly emotional as he mourned Ogogo.
