Funke Akindele, Oby Ezekwesili, Ini Edo, Others Attend Alex Ekubo’s Service Of Songs
Nollywood stars, gospel musicians, and several dignitaries gathered on Wednesday for the service of songs held in honour of late actor Alex Ekubo.
The event took place on June 10 at the Monarch Event Centre in the Lekki area of Lagos State and attracted many prominent personalities from the entertainment industry, religious circles, and public service.
Among the dignitaries present was former Nigerian Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili.
The service featured ministrations by popular Nigerian pastors Ituah Ighodalo and Jerry Eze. Gospel artistes who performed at the event included Peterson Okopi, Ebuka Songs, Moses Bliss, Mercy Chinwo, and the Laud Urban Choir, among others.
Several celebrities also attended the ceremony to pay their last respects to the late actor.
Those present included actresses Funke Akindele, Dayo Amusan, Kate Henshaw, Omoni Oboli, Nancy Isime, Ini Edo, Blessing Nze, and Ruth Kadiri.
Actors Ike Ogbonna, Stan Nze, Kunle Remi, and Mike Godson were also in attendance.
Other notable personalities at the event included comedian AY, Yomi Casual, Frank Edoho, Cubana Chief Priest, Kcee, E-Money, Chike, and Nambam, among others.
Alex Ekubo died at a Lagos hospital on May 11, 2026, after a prolonged battle with advanced kidney cancer.
The late actor is scheduled to be laid to rest on June 18, 2026, in his hometown of Ujari Village, Abia State.
