I Ran Away From Nigeria, Never Wanted To Return – Singer Chidinma
Nigerian singer Chidinma Ekile has revealed that she once left Nigeria with no intention of returning before transitioning from secular music to gospel music.
The singer made the revelation while speaking at a recent event organised by Eezee Conceptz, explaining that she travelled abroad and attempted to secure permanent residency because she did not want to return to Nigeria.

According to Chidinma, her plans did not work out as expected, forcing her to reconsider her future.
“I travelled. I ran away from Nigeria. I was processing my papers not to come back to Nigeria, but for some reason, it didn’t work,” she said.
Chidinma explained that while she was abroad, the Chief Executive Officer of Eezee Conceptz was the only person from Nigeria who consistently contacted and encouraged her.
She said his calls helped her find the motivation to return to Nigeria, after which she approached him for a gospel music contract.
The singer revealed that she wanted to dedicate more time to her relationship with God, prompting her decision to pursue gospel music.
“When I came back, I asked him to give me a gospel music contract because I want to spend time with God. And he gave me a contract that even my lawyer said seemed like a charity,” she stated.
Chidinma further explained that her transition into gospel music was not initially driven by a desire to make gospel songs but by her personal desire to develop a closer relationship with God.
Her decision marked a significant change in her musical career, as she moved away from secular music to focus on gospel music and her faith.
