Nigerian comedian and skit maker Samuel Perry, popularly known as Broda Shaggi, has recounted his frightening experience after being hit by a stray bullet on March 9, 2026.
The incident left him seriously injured, unable to move his leg properly and uncertain about whether he would return to the entertainment industry.
Shaggi shared his experience in a video on his YouTube channel, explaining that the incident happened after he and his team completed a brand activation.

According to the comedian, they were leaving the location when heavy traffic caused by a crowd brought their vehicle to a stop.
What began as an ordinary workday suddenly turned frightening when he heard a loud bang.
“We were done with the activation, we were already leaving. In fact, we were on the express, but there was a hold-up because there was a crowd, and all of a sudden, all I heard was a loud bang,” he recounted.
Shaggi said he could see people moving and talking outside the vehicle, but he could not hear their voices.
“But I could still see people moving outside, people talking, but I couldn’t hear what they were saying. It was just total silence in the car,” he said.
The reality of what had happened dawned on him when he touched his hip and discovered blood.
“Then I touched my hip and saw blood. That was when it dawned on me that I had been hit by a stray bullet,” he added.
The comedian described the experience as terrifying, saying his immediate concern was whether he would survive.
Broda Shaggi Loses Consciousness After Being Shot
Shaggi revealed that he later lost consciousness and remained unconscious until he arrived at the hospital.
He said he could not remember how he was transported to the medical facility but recalled praying for his survival as members of his team rushed him for treatment.
According to reports published by Nigerian media, he was initially taken to Blooming Care Hospital in the Alakuko area of Lagos, where he received emergency treatment before being transferred to Duchess Hospital in Ikeja for further medical attention.
The comedian recalled bleeding and sweating while desperately hoping that a doctor would reassure him that he would survive.
He explained that medical personnel at the first hospital determined that he needed treatment beyond what the facility could provide, leading to his transfer.
At the second hospital, medical workers attended to him and moved him into the emergency room.
Although he received immediate medical attention, another frightening realisation followed when he discovered that he could not move his injured leg.
The development left him worried that the shooting might permanently affect his life and career.
Injury Raises Fears About His Entertainment Career
For Shaggi, the injury threatened more than his physical health. His comedy performances often involve dancing, energetic movements and physical acting, making the possibility of impaired mobility particularly distressing.
He explained that he began wondering whether he would ever be able to perform as he had before.
The comedian also reflected on his passion for entertainment, revealing that he had maintained a demanding work schedule since 2018.
According to him, his routine involved writing comedy material, shooting skits, recording music and travelling for professional engagements, leaving him with little time to rest.
Being unable to participate in the activities he loved became emotionally difficult.
Shaggi said he sometimes watched videos of fellow entertainers performing and became emotional because he was unsure whether he would regain the ability to do the same things.
He also worried that his prolonged absence from social media and the entertainment scene could cause fans to forget him.
Despite these concerns, the comedian tried to remain productive throughout his recovery. He revealed that he continued writing content and started working on a YouTube series while receiving medical care.
His efforts reflected his determination to remain connected to his audience despite being unable to resume his usual activities.
Broda Shaggi Undergoes Surgery In Nigeria Before Travelling To Dubai
Shaggi disclosed that he underwent surgery in Nigeria but continued experiencing difficulties moving his injured leg.
According to his account, his recovery was complicated by medical concerns that initially prevented doctors from proceeding with another operation.
He later travelled to Dubai for further medical assessment and surgery after consulting a doctor there.
Shaggi said the specialist examined him and determined that the procedure could proceed despite the concerns previously raised about his condition.
The decision gave him renewed hope that he might regain his mobility.
He explained that surgery had always seemed like a matter of life and death to him, making the experience particularly frightening.
Nevertheless, he said he placed his trust in God throughout the process.
The comedian recalled that his recovery improved after the procedure in Dubai. He said he was able to stand on his feet shortly after the surgery, marking an important milestone after a prolonged period of limited mobility.
However, his recovery was not complete.
Shaggi explained that there had been a time when he could not move without two crutches and could not comfortably place his injured leg on the ground.
Although he later regained the ability to stand and walk without crutches, he said he continued to rely on them for support.
Broda Shaggi Opens Up About Emotional Struggle During Recovery
Beyond the physical injury, Shaggi revealed that the experience took an emotional toll on him.
He recalled questioning why the incident had happened to him and struggling to understand why he had to endure so much pain.
The comedian said he eventually tried to find comfort in the possibility that the forced break could give him an opportunity to rest after years of demanding work.
He also expressed gratitude that the bullet struck his hip rather than a more vital part of his body.
Reflecting on what could have happened, Shaggi acknowledged that the consequences might have been far worse.
His account highlighted the uncertainty he faced during recovery, particularly when he did not know whether he would regain full use of his leg or return to the activities that had defined his entertainment career.
