King Mitchy Appeals For Support After Visiting Mr Ibu’s Family
Content creator King Mitchy has called on Nigerians to support the family of late Nollywood actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, after visiting his family and witnessing what she described as a difficult living situation.
According to Mitchy, some of the actor’s children have reportedly stopped attending school because of financial challenges. She said Mr Ibu’s 14-year-old daughter and two younger sons, aged 12 and 10, were no longer in school.
She also claimed that the family told her they had been without electricity and access to potable water for about two weeks due to lack of funds.
Expressing her sadness, Mitchy said it was painful to see the family of a man who brought joy to millions of Nigerians struggling after his death.
She said:
“This is the family of a legend. Not just anybody. I don’t know for you, but for me Mr Ibu made my childhood fun. I loved to watch his movies
Her appeal has sparked sympathy online, with many Nigerians discussing ways to support the late actor’s family.
Mr Ibu, whose real name was John Okafor, was one of Nollywood’s most celebrated comic actors, known for his humorous performances and decades of contribution to the Nigerian film industry. He died in 2024 after battling a prolonged illness.
