Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has claimed he would have left the Spanish club if he were in Vinicius Junior’s position, insisting that the Brazilian winger deserves greater respect in LaLiga.

Mourinho believes Vinicius could receive more appreciation outside Spain, particularly from rival clubs and opposition supporters.

“If I were in his position, I would probably not still be here,” Mourinho said.

He added: “Last summer, I would probably have forced my way out to another league, where I would have been respected by other clubs and opposition fans.”

However, Mourinho acknowledged that Vinicius’s strong attachment to Real Madrid and the city had influenced his decision to remain at the club despite the situation.

“But because of his love for the club and the city, he believes things can still improve. He extended his contract and continues to smile,” he stated.

Vinicius was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal during the summer transfer window as he approached the final months of his previous contract.
